Measure usable space—not only wall-to-wall dimensions
Record the clear area available after accounting for the platform, sound booth, columns, permanent furnishings, door swings, equipment, and any areas that cannot contain seating.
Choose a realistic chair width
The Samson Church Chair is approximately 20 inches wide. Across a long row, chair width has a significant effect on capacity. Compare the actual dimensions of the proposed chair rather than relying on a generic seat count.
Allow space between rows
Row spacing must support seated comfort and safe movement. The measurement normally considers the chair depth plus the planned clearance to the next row. More spacing can improve comfort but reduce total capacity.
Plan aisles and accessible routes
Do not treat aisles as leftover space. Their number, location, and width affect circulation and emergency egress. Accessible seating locations and routes should be integrated into the plan, not added after every other chair is placed.
Use interlocks for orderly rows
